Gender Inequality
Gender inequality is discrimination on the basis of sex or gender when people are not treated equally which leads to conflicts in society. The treatment may arise from distinctions regarding biology, psychology, or cultural norms which are adapted by our society.
Let's take an example, there is a position in an organization for which both male and female are eligible, both have done equal hard work but on the basis of gender the position is given to a male candidate because we are living in a male dominant society so this is gender inequality but on the other hand let's take another example of a home. A Family of 4 members Father, Mother and their 2 children a boy and a girl. To shift a weight object it's generally told to a boy not a girl so we'll not say it's a gender inequality that why it's always said to a boy not to a girl, boy is considered a little more biological strong and to show respect it's not said to a girl.
These days it's very common in metro cities, i.e. why the seats are only reserved for women not men. This is gender inequality, this is discrimination. So the reason behind it is that it's the woman who suffers a lot in the society only a woman can tell that going to the office from home and coming back home from the office how many people see her at what intention so to ensure a safety for them a separate coach has been reserved for them in the metro. We are liberal, we got independence in 1947 but are we really liberal just ask yourself because today also it's a male dominant society, if at home any big decision has to be taken, generally it's a male who takes the decision.
Yes, to counter the gender inequality a good step has been taken in a particular sector in sports i.e. in Cricket by BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). In 2023 the board decided that the equal pay to be given to both male and female players. So it's a very good step.
We need to understand the true meaning of gender inequality, wherever needed we must raise our voice but we should not misinterpret it's meaning everywhere.
